There are only two satellite dish providers of satellite dish tv. The two major satellite dish tv
providers are Direct tv and Dish Network. All authorized dealer services are launched by either one of the two
broadcasting services. Both systems are incompatible, so you have to select one or the other.
Both Direct tv and Dish Network promote great deals and specials which provide free installation, equipment,
and more channels than cable at a lot cheaper prices. Both have HDTV and DVR features included.
The Dish Network manufactures their own satellite receivers, hardware, and equipment while Direct tv systems are
available from several manufacturers. With DVR technology (digital video recording) you are able to pause
live TV (to answer phone), slow motion, rewind, fast forward, and skip commercials on recorded programs. Tivo
lets you record two shows at once and a third while you watch. Tivo's "Seasonal Pass" features allow you to automatically
record every episode of your favorite show even if its slot has changed.
Another advantage of satellite television is that it provides the brand new technology of HDTV. HDTV
provides vivid picture quality with up to a million pixels of resolution. Images are of high definition of color and
clarity. Digital sound programs that are broadcasted in HDTV have Dolby digital formatting allowing a true surround
sound experience.
Both Direct tv and Dish Network offers a variety of HDTV programming such as theater-quality movie channels,
educational and nature programming, PPV HD movies, and HD broadcasting of special events including concerts, boxing matches,
and professional sporting events. Also more and more HDTV channels are added and coming soon.
Digital cable does have digital quality movies also, but does not have the true digital quality of
satellite television. It cannot be considered "truly digital " as it is generally a fourth or fifth generation
signal relayed from sub-station to sub-station before reaching the consumer. The relay of digital cable diminishes
the overall quality of your picture and sound with digital cable. Satellite tv broadcasting are first generation and
have the highest quality signals directly to you.
